The Marvell College will feature as part of a BBC Panorama documentary to be broadcast at 8pm on Monday 6th October 2025 on BBC1.
Filming in school focussed on our offer for pupils with SEND through our SEND Champions Programme. One pupil is highlighted as having received the support they need to be successful in our setting and serves as an illustration of the excellent work staff in the school do t
We are proud that this work helps us to “know our pupils and to know them well” and to support them in being “as good as anyone, anywhere”.
Whilst data for pupils with SEND, and other pupils who may be vulnerable to making good progress, are positive, the impact of our work is measured in much more important ways than simply numbers. The stories that sit behind these numbers really bring to life what inclusion really means in our school.
In seeking to give pupils, parents and carers, and staff a voice in how best to support young people, we believe we are well placed to be a truly inclusive school and to serve our community.
Our school, and our Trust, are rooted in restorative practice. Just like the young people in our care, we know we do not get everything right all of the time, and we are open and honest when mistakes are made. However, we remain resolute in our determination to put the most vulnerable in our community at the heart of our offer.
We hope you find the programme, and our small part in it, insightful. If you would like to know more about our approach to inclusion and support for pupils with SEND, please do get in touch.
