At The Marvell College, we are passionate about the future and contributing to a fair and sustainable future for all. We recognise that we have a unique opportunity to educate and empower our students and wider community to share this vision and deliver this future. To this effect, the school offers a wide variety of activities, projects and programmes that engage with the many facets of sustainability.
The Marvell College is a sustainable school with a net energy efficiency of 76% and estimated carbon footprint of 339t per year. To strive for excellence, in 2023 Marvell joined the initiative ‘Climate Changemakers’. Climate Changemakers provides a program designed to further reduce our school’s carbon footprint and improve its energy efficiency. As part of the program, a delegation of students in KS3 and KS4 have been nominated as Climate Changemakers to help educate their peers on sustainability and their carbon footprint.
Every floor has access to multiple water fountains to reduce the use of single use plastic which consequently will combat waste. Food caddies have been placed around the dining area to encourage composting. Additionally, the Climate Changemakers secured funding for a long-term project to grow fruit and vegetables which will help to raise awareness and decrease the school’s carbon footprint.
