Transition Programme

We know that you may be anxious and have questions about your child's transition from primary to secondary. Please know that we will do everything we can to allay any worries whilst ensuring that your child is happy, settled and learning at our school.

The Year 6s who are joining us in September are extremely important to us, and we will do all we can to ensure that our transition processes and experiences both this school year and in September, are as positive as possible. We recognise that every child is unique and can achieve amazing things. The Marvell College is a special place, where we want all our young people to be ambitious, respectful and courageous, which are our school values.

Transition Timeline:

Primary School Visits to The Marvell College – 1st October onwards

Many of our local primary schools take the opportunity to bring small cohorts of students to visit The Marvell College to speak with students, take a tour and meet our staff.

Year 6 Open Evening – October, 4.30pm – 7.00pm

We welcome all prospective parents/carers and students to The Marvell College to our Open Evening to see and experience our state-of-the-art facilities, speak to our staff and hear from our Headteacher.

Transition Week - July

We believe that students benefit enormously by getting to know us and the school site prior to their official start with us in September. Our induction process has been designed to ensure students adjust well into the school setting, encouraging them to begin secondary school life with a positive attitude to learning.

When your child is officially a Marvell student, we will write to you regularly with information about their new school. This will eventually lead to the highlight of the induction process when they join us for Transition Week.

Over these 5 days, your child will attend The Marvell College, enjoying lessons, meeting their new tutor and finding their way around the college site.

Your child will get to know lots of new people and find out just what it is like to be a new student at their new school.

Final Pack: September Start Information – July

This will include all the information regarding the start of school in September.

We are very excited about meeting your child and welcoming them to the Marvell family!
