Sustainability

At The Marvell College, we are passionate about the future and contributing to a fair and sustainable future for all. We recognise that we have a unique opportunity to educate and empower our students and wider community to share this vision and deliver this future. To this effect, the school offers a wide variety of activities, projects and programmes that engage with the many facets of sustainability.

The Marvell College has forged strong and mutually beneficial links through ‘The Friends of Kneeshaw’ Community Group to help redevelop and maintain the upkeep of our local park. Students are involved in projects to develop the park, in the community whilst also assisting with maintaining a pleasant environment on the park for all of its users.

In addition to these projects, the school has launched its very own ‘Green Team’, which is made up of representatives from all key stakeholder groups and meets termly to discuss the advancement of sustainability and green projects within the school. This group is supported by the Senior Leadership Team and the Student Council, which contributes and helps to identify areas for improvement and to represent the student body's perspective.

Most recently some examples of our sustainability and work in the community has included: planting trees, cleaning up beaches and litter picking both on site and in the local area.

Most recently,The Marvell College students planted over 2,300 trees on the school site. Students have been working alongside members of the PATT Foundation to help make the school greener, with the hope of bringing cleaner air to the area and by also providing habitats in the future for wildlife. The Students listened diligently to the brief on how to plant, before being given free rein to plant as many trees as they could. Fantastic effort!
