OCR Sport Science

Our KS4 curriculum is two hours per week. Pupils will complete the OCR Level 2 Cambridge National in Sport Science course which is a practical, academic and work-related course. Pupils will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. OCR Sport Science covers 3 topics, where health and fitness make up most of the content. This qualification enables pupils to possess a thorough understanding of topics such as components of fitness, methods of training, methods of fitness testing and principles of training. Our aim is to broaden the experiences that pupils get to develop pupil’s cultural capital and allow them experiences outside of the mainstream sporting programme. During these lessons, teachers will seek to maximise practical learning opportunities so that pupils are given as much time as possible to develop their skills while being active. Our KS4 curriculum prepares you for employment and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced courses at college.
