Studying business gives the opportunity to develop a knowledge of small and medium sized enterprises. Students are motivated through the study of a cross section of Entrepreneurs from a range of backgrounds and develop the skills needed to run a small or medium enterprise.

 

Business Curriculum Intent

 

To develop a broad knowledge and understanding of the enterprise sector; providing an insight into the entrepreneurial skills needed by small and medium enterprises and giving an opportunity to explore the feasibility of business ideas.

 

We focus on the following key areas within the BTEC Enterprise course.

 

Business attitudes. We work with flair, creativity, and accuracy to understand the impact and importance of the entrepreneur. We understand the importance of developing the skills needed to run an enterprise.

 

Analysis and evaluation. We understand how to evaluate a business idea and apply our financial knowledge and skills to look at the feasibility of a business. We use analytical and evaluative skills to explore data and use the information gathered to make informed and successful decisions.

 

Fluency of reading. Reading underpins our access to the subject. We take opportunities to develop our reading skills. New vocabulary is introduced frequently, and we work use these tiers 2 and 3 words and terms into context to deepen our understanding. By applying key literacy techniques, we understand the demands and requirements of the tasks we are set.
