Studying business equips learners with the skills and confidence to explore how different business situations affect business decisions. Pupils will learn how to make informed choices about a wide range of further learning opportunities and career pathways, as well as develop life skills that enable them to become financially and commercially aware.

Business Curriculum Intent

To develop knowledge and understanding of business concepts, business terminology, business objectives and the impact of business on individuals and wider society.

We focus on the following key areas within the GCSE OCR Business course.

Business attitudes. We develop as entrepreneurs with the ability to think commercially and creatively to demonstrate understanding of the world of business.

Analysis and evaluation. We understand how to evaluate a business idea and analyse real life business scenarios to construct a well evidenced and balanced explanation of the impact of business decisions.

Fluency of reading. Reading underpins our access to the subject. We take opportunities to develop our reading skills. New vocabulary is introduced frequently, and we work use these tiers 2 and 3 words and terms into context to deepen our understanding. By applying key literacy techniques, we understand the demands and requirements of the tasks we are set.
