Modern Languages French GCSE
At the Marvell College pupils follow the KS3 course in Y7 and Y8. Pupils follow text books Studio 1 in Y7 and Studio 2 in Y8. Topics studied in Y7 are: personal details, school, hobbies, where you live and holidays. Topics taught in Y8 are TV, Paris, identity and local area. Pupils are prepared for the subsequent GCSE course in Y9-11 through ensuring they build up a sound knowledge of core grammar and vocabulary to prepare them for deeper learning in KS4. This includes exposure to past, present and future tenses. They are assessed using GCSE-style assessments to help further support them with this. Pupils are taught through a variety of engaging activities and wherever possible a cultural dynamic is added to the lessons.
