Study Support / Revision
Ofsted - homework should be set to meet the appropriate needs of the children. Homework needs to have clear and relevant objectives, which develops children’s learning.
The Marvell College recognises that supporting the independent study of all students is an integral factor for their academic, social and cultural development. We aim to empower students to consolidate their subject knowledge and skills challenging them to develop their areas of weakness as well as supporting them in making progress to the next level in their learning journey.
Students are able to access the library facilities (which include extensive ICT equipment) both at lunch time and after-school. In addition, teachers and mentors are available support students independently or in small groups outside of the timetabled learning hour(s). By offering this extensive network of support all staff expect that students will develop into becoming independent learners equipped with the reading and writing skills which enable them to conduct research, create and develop ideas and, most importantly, reflect on their learning.
Those students who are studying for external exams or are completing examined coursework units are able to access an extensive revision programme during the term time breaks. Information regarding particular subjects and particular dates for the given holidays can be found on our News page.
