Transition 2021 - URGENT UPDATE
16th June 2021
Yesterday, the Learning Partnership at the Local Authority took the decision to recommend that Year 6 have a virtual Transition this year, 2021.
Therefore, it is with much regret that we have taken the decision to hold a Virtual Transition Week for all Year 6s who are transitioning to The Marvell College this year. The most recent government guidance is that restrictions will not be lifted until July 19th by which time Transition Week would have taken place. We also recognise that our primary schools are understandably anxious (as are we) about Year 6 students mixing with a significantly large number of other Year 6s from many primaries across the city. Were there to be a positive case, this would mean your child could potentially have to self-isolate during their final week of primary school which would be very upsetting for them, their teacher, friends and your family.
Although this is hugely disappointing, we believe that this will help to ensure that we all stay safe during these challenging times. There will be lots of virtual activities during the week commencing Monday 12th until Friday 16th July of which your child will partake whilst in the safety of their primary school and their bubble.
We will also plan to hold an early Transition in September for the new Year 7s so that they are able to adjust to our new school whilst feeling supported and welcome. Further information regarding this will be sent home to all Year 6s and their families.
