Tigers Trust Y5 & Y6 Girls Football Tournament

21st November 2018

On Monday 12 November 2018, The Marvell College hosted The Tigers Trust Girls Football Tournament. This event provided a fantastic opportunity for primary schools within East Hull to play at Marvell’s world class facilities.

Further to this, the event provided the chance for those students who will join The Marvell College next year to familiarise themselves with the school environment.

Participating schools included:

·         Neasden Primary

·         Woodland Primary

·         Spring Cottage Primary

·         Pickering Primary

The Tournament was played on The All Weather Pitch, the four schools battled it out under the flood lights.

Amy Blinkhorn, The Tigers Trust Officer who organised the event had this to say about the schools. “All teams were fantastic and played with great spirit and attitude showing excellent teamwork skills! Girls football is extremely popular here at The Marvell College, so it was great to see so many young girls enjoying the beautiful game.”

Special mention must go to the three student referees from Marvell College. Alfie (Y9), Filip (Y7) and Kasper (Y10) represented their school with the upmost professionalism with Amy commenting “The referees were brilliant throughout and were great role models for the players. It is fantastic to see students volunteer their time to support events at the school”.

Alfie made a very good observation on the night, he said: “There has been no free-kicks given all night which shows the good attitudes of players.”

All players were awarded with a Tigers Trust medal including the brilliant referees presented by Amy, who also plays as a midfielder for Hull City Ladies FC.
