Parents’ Guide to Rewards
Restorative behaviour is at the heart of everything we do at The Marvell College.
Our Rewards and Behaviour Guide for Parents is designed to help parents understand the systems and sanctions at our school whilst recognising that we place a huge emphasis on students being rewarded for doing the right thing. Praise will be given in every single lesson; in the student planner. Every teacher has a stamp; students earn Pride Points in a variety of ways such as answering questions, working hard in lessons and being kind to others. This is supported by a rewards trip at the start of every academic year and rewards activities during the year. The Marvell College wants to ensure that students are rewarded for their efforts, hard work and exemplary behaviour.
Dear Parent / Carer
The plans for the induction programme for the children joining us in September are at an advanced stage. I have thoroughly enjoyed visiting each child personally in their primary school over the last 8 weeks and am looking forward to working with you and your child.
The next stage of the transition programme is Induction Evening. You will receive a letter of invitation shortly after the half term break outlining the specific arrangements for this event. This will take place on Tuesday 5th July. Parents/carers MUST attend with their child. If your child is unable to attend the Induction Evening please can I ask that you still attend.
If your child has a special educational need you will have also received a letter to attend an additional SEN Tea and Biscuit Evening on Thursday 16th June. It is essential that you attend both the SEN Tea and Biscuit Evening and the Induction Evening. It is important that we have a thorough understanding of any SEN support your child currently receives at their primary school to ensure that the necessary support is available here at Andrew Marvell College.
Transition week will take place between Monday 18th & Friday 21st July. Please also be aware that Andrew Marvell College will close for the Summer holidays at 1.15pm on Thursday 21st July. Further information about transition week will be communicated at the end of June.
The transition from Primary to Secondary school is an exciting time for many children, but can also be very daunting. Therefore we look forward to meeting you at the Year 6 Induction Evening and working with you throughout the next five years.

I wish to draw your attention to the rapid progress being made by Andrew Marvell College, not least due to our solid partnerships with Hull Collaborative Academy Trust and St Mary’s College.
You may have read recent announcements in the local press regarding the removal of special measures. This comes after our best ever exam results placing us fifth in the City, and second in East Hull.
On the 1st March we will become an Academy under the sponsorship of Hull Collaborative Academy Trust (HCAT). In 2016 HCAT will have 10 primary schools in the multi academy trust including East Hull Schools, Bellfield, Westcott and Wansbeck. With a proven track record of success in Hull, two HCAT primary schools have been rated outstanding by Ofsted and the remaining seven schools have been rated as good. The academisation of Andrew Marvell will secure our long term partnership with St Mary's College for the day to day running of the school.
Our unique partnership with St Mary’s College links us with an outstanding school, that has been the top performing Hull school year on year and is one of the top 3% of performing schools nationally for the progress that pupils make. They have a proven track record of delivering outstanding results with pupils of similar prior attainment to Andrew Marvell College. Therefore the relationship will position Andrew Marvell very well for the future.
Our £27m state-of the art facilities boasting some of the best amenities in the region, ensure that we are well placed to continue making rapid progress and become the best school imaginable.
We currently have limited spaces in all years. If you would like to come and have a private tour of the school and hear about the future plans for Andrew Marvell College please contact Mrs Taylor to arrange an appointment on 01482 799132 or alternatively email our school admissions direct at firstname.lastname@example.org
